If you are having problems with your system crashing with GPF's and
giving you other glitched when you try to run Netscape, and you are
using PC/NFS, then make sure you're using at least version 5.1a of
PC/NFS, and try setting it to use NIS instead of DNS. Apparently
there is a software conflict between PC/NFS and Netscape that prevents
Netscape from being able to do lookups via DNS.
To switch from DNS to NIS, you must ask your sysadmins for the name
and numeric address of a system which you can use as a NIS server,
then enter these commands at a DOS prompt (with PC/NFS installed and
active):
NET NISDOMAIN domain-name [such as FOO.COM]
NET NISSET nis-server-name [such as NIS.FOO.COM]
... or alter your AUTOEXEC.BAT file accordingly.
