FTP transfers stop after a specific number of bytes on a SLIP connection

If you're seeing a problem whereby any ftp file transfers you attempt
(such as downloading the Netscape Navigator from our ftp site) always
hang after a certain number of bytes, and if you're also using a SLIP
connection over your phone line, then try decreasing the MTU value in
your SLIP software from 1500 to 1006.
This idea was suggested to us by a customer; we have not tested it.
