Summary:
Sometimes you may want to restore a files to its original form, by pulling the file off the distribution disk. The only problem is that in order to save disk space as shipped, the files are stored in a compressed format.
This technical note will explain how to expand the file from a compressed form into a useable format.
Details:
The best way to expand a compressed file manually is to:
- Go to the DOS prompt (Running under Windows is fine)
- Copy the Compressed file to a temporary directory.
- Issue the command line:
expand <filename> -r
- The temporary directory will now contain both the compressed file and the expanded equivalent
