Summary: When an instance arises where a modification of the COM port's Bits Per Second (BPS) rate is necessary, Highway 101 makes the job easy!

This technical note will provide you with a few simple steps to changing the BPS rate to clear up some problems with older or problem modems.

Details:

  1. From the Highway Toolbar go to "User Settings"
  2. Select "Modem Settings"
  3. When Prompted if you would like Highway 101 to auto-detect your modem click "No"
  4. Click Next to select the current COM: port.
  5. When presented with the list of available modems, click on the Advanced Button.
  6. Locate the drop-down box that lists the baud rate. In there, you may select the rate you would like to switch to.
  7. Click Ok, and finish the re-configuration assistant so Highway writes it's changes.

If you have any doubt whether the modem changes took effect, check the Netscape Personal Edition Properties dialog. Click on the Modems Tab. You should see the new settings have taken place.
